2005 Board of Directors Annual Meeting Update

The NSP Annual Board Meeting was held on Friday and Saturday, June 24-25 in Golden, Colorado. This was a great opportunity to see our leadership in action and note their priorities and actions in regard to the issues of membership concern. Only about 5 hours of the two days were open to general membership with the remainder of time spent in executive session (closed to general membership, including the Division Directors).

Rick Hamlin from Eastern Division, Ed Gassman from Rocky Mountain Division and Jim Woodrum from Central Division presented their division’s Resolutions for Change in an Executive Session on Thursday night. These Resolutions of Change are or will be available on each division’s website. When available, web links to these Resolutions of Change will be posted on PatrollerCommittee.org.

In brief, the Division Directors sent a unified clear signal to the Board that change is needed. In addition to their presentations, the Division Directors who had been networking with the other Division Directors prior to the Board meeting communicated the following statements of unity:

The Division Directors pointed out “This statement of unity is significant, as Division Directors have rarely agreed on anything.”

During the open session of the BOD meeting, it was business as usual despite the Division Directors presentations of Resolutions of Change. For example, the BOD passed the amendment to extend the Term Limit for the Board Chairman to 3 - 2 year terms. All presented Resolutions for Change have been sent to NSP sub committees for further study and evaluation. The ‘05 Annual BOD Meeting Minutes are available on the NSP website.

Future Actions

Our Division Directors have taken a strong unified approach for change with the BOD. Their approach and desires are in parallel with those stated objectives of the Patroller Committee. In an effort to further unify membership on a common approach to change, the Patroller Committee Team plans to and recommends full support of the Division Directors efforts to solicit change on the behalf of membership.

So what can you the patroller do?

Of course, your Patroller Committee Team will continue to help you be informed, educated and engaged on issues by offering updates and links to available Division information on PatrollerCommittee.org. All Patrollers are encouraged to register at the PatrollerCommittee.org, so we may keep you informed as we continue to move forward.

Take ‘5’ for Patroller Unity

Pass the word, keep the momentum going. Take 5 minutes this week to contact 5 other patrollers and share this information. Knowledge and unification is power! .

Sincerely,
Your PC Team
