NSP Board Addresses Petition to Amend Articles of Incorp.

On On September 14th 2005 Colorado Court issued a preliminary injunction directing the Board to suspend all activity relative to the planned NSP Board fall election. The Court also directed NSP and member counsel to either work together towards a member vote or direct the Court to interpret if the Board must grant a member vote as requested by the Petition.

NSP has agreed to move forward with the member vote!!! On the NSP website home page, you will find this “Breaking News” announcement. “…the board instructed staff, through NSP’s attorneys, to contact the petitioning group’s attorney to begin the process of having NSP conduct a fair, timely and equitable vote on amending the NSP Articles of Incorporation in accordance with Colorado law. The board stressed that the NSP membership should have clear and balanced information so that the majority of the membership who presently are not engaged in this issue will be able to make an intelligent and informed decision.”

In reality, NSP has just made an offer to start negotiating with member counsel on the procedure and process of the member vote. If the proposed procedure and process are “fair, timely and equitable” then this negotiation process should be completed with little delay.

Central Division Supports the Petition Amendment Vote

Central Division Director, Jim Woodrum, after significant efforts working within NSP, has now “urged NSP to move forward with granting a member vote and the other requests in the CD proposals and stop fighting this call from membership.”

What Can Members Do?

Clearly members have spoken and we commend the Board for its forward thinking actions and promoting a fair, timely and equitable vote on amending the NSP Articles of Incorporation. Members have gained a significant step forward, but now member education and engagement in the democratic process is vital to continue our forward movement.

You can help by becoming educated on the issues and help others with the same. The first job is to understand the Petition amendment. Go to the either the Eastern or Rocky Mountain Division websites to read the available Petition information. If you wonder what we’re changing from, or why the vote is necessary, go to the Patroller Committee website for significant information that will be helpful in understanding these issues. If you’re still confused, please feel free to contact any us. Email links can be found on the “Who We Are” web page.

An informed and engaged membership is vital as we move forward, so the PC Team will continue our efforts to keep you posted, as we hear news using weekly updates, direct communications to registered PC Members and responding to members!!
