Week Ending: May 29, 2005
The purpose of this communication is to foster member awareness and to provide a vehicle for the identification of issues which are important to the membership and the resolution of the same to the mutual benefit of the members and the National Ski Patrol.
Momentum continues to build as we are seeing a weekly increase of members visiting and registering on PatrollerCommittee.org.
As you may recall, the Central Division had chartered several task forces to work on specific issues. These task forces are in the final phases of preparing these resolutions for review by the National Board.
We have received several inquiries regarding the identity of the ‘Patroller Committee’ organizers. While we have not intentionally desired to create the aurora of the legendary “Robin Hood”, we felt that ours actions were far more important than personal identification. However, in the spirit of teamwork you will notice that a ‘Who Are These Guys?’ section has been added to the Who We Are web page, which identifies the core individuals of the PC Team. These individuals have on the average, over 29 years of patrolling experience and have held a variety of leadership positions in NSP. This is a dedicated and passionate group whose only desire is to return the National Ski Patrol System to its key roots. We are committed to interact with the National Board and the Executive Director in a respectful and constructive manner to resolve issues and concerns of Patrollers. We have no hidden agendas.
Our efforts over the last several weeks have been focused on networking throughout the NSP System. We are now is active contact with Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountain, Southern, Central, Eastern, Far West, Intermountain, and Northern Divisions. This network is designed to facilitate our ‘outreach’ efforts to every patroller in the system. Additionally, we have resources actively working in the following areas: Marketing & Communication, Member Contacts, Discovery, Legal, and Financial. If you are interested in getting involved please send an email to any PC Team member.
Our NSP leadership in the coming weeks are going to have an opportunity to send their desired message to Patrollers at the June NSP Annual Board Meeting that will be held on June 24-25 in Golden, Colorado. We are encouraging all registered National Ski Patrollers to attend this open meeting. This would be a great opportunity to see our leadership in action and understand their perspective and approach to issues of concern to membership.
Also within the PC.org is a very good page of suggestions to answer the question often heard “What can I do?”. Take a few minutes and read this section and get involved. Share what you have learned, pass the word, keep the momentum going. This is your chance to make a difference and have your voice be heard. Take 5 minutes this week to contact 5 other patrollers and get them to register on: www.Patrollercommittee.org. then ask them to contact 5 others.
Sincerely,
Your PC Team
